WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — A police report says a Washington state student who drowned in the Wenatchee High School pool had been kidded when he said he did not know how to swim.
The report notes that Antonio Reyes and three other boys who missed the swimming assessment in the first week of class while sitting on bleachers were teased.
The Wenatchee World (http://is.gd/zPEGi3 ) obtained the report through a public records request.
The school district is conducting its own investigation.
Reyes entered the water for the Nov. 17 class and was last seen treading water. The freshman was found on the bottom of the pool by a following class. His family has filed a $15 million lawsuit accusing school officials of negligence.
