South Bend Washington standout David Perkins finally knows where he's going to play his college football. Perkins has chosen to play for Ohio State.
Perkins made the announcement this morning via Twitter. Washington high school officials confirmed his decision later in the day.
He had originally committed to Notre Dame back in June, but re-opened his recruitment during the fall.
The Buckeyes became a major player for Perkins once Urban Meyer took over as head coach of the Buckeyes. Perkins took his official visit to Columbus over the weekend, and apparently it was a good one.
Perkins was unavailable for comment today, as he spent most of the afternoon meeting with Urban Meyer in South Bend.
Meyer and Perkins share several common threads. Washington head coach Antwon Jones played for Notre Dame back when Meyer was an Irish assistant. Washington assistant coach Jay Johnson also played for Meyer at Notre Dame.
And Meyer has two new assistant coaches, Tim Hinton & Ed Warinner, both of whom were on Notre Dame's staff when Perkins was being recruited by Notre Dame.
