A commercial building in Edwardsburg was destroyed after an early morning fire Wednesday.
Just after 2 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to a building at Section and Max streets in Edwardsburg, just south of Edwardsburg High School.
Crews battled flames and heavy smoke.
A fire official on the scene noted the building once housed fertilizer and chemicals ... more specifically, lime.
The name of the business is not known at this time, but there is a sign on the side of the building that reads "Fertilizer and Bulk Chemical Facility."
Fire crews say the presence of chemicals did not pose any risk for the building to explode in the blaze.
A fire investigator and an insurance representative are expected to be at the site Wednesday to try and determine what started the fire.
