SOUTH BEND — The condition of a motorcycle passenger who was critically injured March 18 in an accident in Osceola has improved.
A Memorial Hospital of South Bend spokesman confirmed to WSBT Amy Himes' condition has been upgraded to fair, as of Friday afternoon.
Himes, 49, was the passenger on the motorcycle driven by her husband, 40-year-old Scott Himes, when a car and their motorcycle collided. Both were thrown to the ground; neither was wearing a helmet, police said. The Himes are Mishawaka residents.
The car's driver, Tammy Balentine, 54, of Osceola, was attempting to turn north onto Grand Boulevard from Lincoln Way West when the collision occurred, police reported. Balentine had an arm injury; two children in the car, ages 3 and 11, were not hurt.
