MICHIANA SHORES – Police say they arrested a Michiana Shores man after the discovery of 40 pounds of high-grade marijuana, 1 pound of psychedelic mushrooms, a quarter pound of hash and $8,694 in cash in his home.
This happened Tuesday around 3 p.m. An investigation led police to the home in the 200 block of Chickadee Trail where, during a consensual search, the drugs and cash were found.
Police say the street value of the marijuana alone is $200,000.
Officers arrested 33-year-old Benjamin Strupek. He was booked into LaPorte County Jail and charged with dealing marijuana over 10 pounds, a Class C felony. Additional charges may be pending.
Indiana State Police Lowell troopers and the Michigan City Police Department and Drug Enforcement Agency assisted in this bust.
