South Bend shooting - police search for suspect

SOUTH BEND – The search is on this morning for a suspect who shot a man in the 800 block of Harrison Street late Saturday night.    

Police say just before 11:15 p.m., a 55-year-old man was standing in the street near a car when shots were fired some 50 to 75 yards away. One of the bullets hit the man in the hip.

Authorities say the victim, whose name has not been released, drove from the scene to another location where he was picked up by medics and taken to the hospital.

The victim told police he does not know the person who shot him.

The injuries were non life-threatening.

South Bend police don’t have any firm information right now on the suspect and are asking for the public’s help. If you have any information, you’re asked to call 235-9201.
