GRANGER — A suspect being chased by Mishawaka and St. Joseph County police late Thursday night apparently bailed out of a burning car near the intersection of Main Street at S.R. 23. Police and firefighters found the car engulfed in flames in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Cemetery.

Mishawaka Police dispatch confirmed to WSBT the suspect was being sought for a robbery at Family Video, 520 Bittersweet Road, Mishawaka. Police received the robbery call at 10:43 p.m.

Police say the driver didn't get into an accident, they think the fire may have started because the car overheated.

After the suspect ran from the burning car, police with K-9s searched a hotel parking lot and cemetery. A suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11 p.m.
