LONDON – Plymouth's Morgan Uceny will run for a medal Friday in the women's 1500 meter finals after qualifying in the semifinals.
She earned her spot in the Olympic finals Wednesday with a 3rd-place finish in her semifinal heat.
She ran a full second faster than her 1st round race to easily make the field.
Uceny posted this comment on Facebook after her semifinal heat run on Wednesday.
"and.....I'm in the final of my first Olympic Games. The first two rounds have been about perseverance and patience, in the final there is no holding back! Thanks for all of the continued support! Let's keep it going:)"
Uceny runs for gold Friday evening London time at Olympic Stadium.
The race is scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m., South Bend time.
