There are just under 9,300 tickets to the Notre Dame-Alabama game available at StubHub.com.
The face value of a ticket is around $350. The going rate online ranges from $1,400 to a mind-blowing, laughable $999,000 for a luxury suite.
Local broker PJ Dobbins with PJ's Ticket Service says he's averaging $1,800 a ticket and adds the demand is steady.
"People have to come to the fact they're gonna have to spend some money to see this game," Dobbins said. "How about a lot of money?" asks reporter Denise Bohn. "A little more than usual," Dobbins responds with a chuckle.
Flights out of South Bend to Miami are filling up as well with a few remaining seats running between $600 to $1,600.
Roundtrip out of Chicago Midway is averaging around $1,000.
"To fly down, three nights hotel and tickets to the game. I think they should realistically expect to pay in the neighborhood of $4,000 per person," said Tom Edgerton with Edgerton Travel out of Mishawaka.
But many interested fans are holding off on buying, waiting to find out the results of the university's student and Notre Dame family lotteries.
The Orange Bowl gave Notre Dame 17,000 tickets for the BCS title game.
2,500 of those are going to students.
The student deadline to apply is Wednesday at 5 p.m. Winners will be announced next Monday.
The remainder of the tickets are in a larger lottery for Notre Dame alumni, season-ticket holders, faculty and benefactors.
That deadline expired Monday afternoon at 5 p.m., with more than 100,000 people applying. Those winners will be announced next Wednesday, December 12, and each get one ticket.
Once Notre Dame announces the lucky winners, Edgerton expects the losers to start buying, pushing prices up even more.
"I would imagine in the next week or ten days, things are going to tighten up quite a bit."
People who applied for the ticket lottery through Anthony Travel will find out if they won via email Tuesday after 5 p.m.
Anthony Travel offered official Notre Dame bowl game packages.
So by next Wednesday, the university will have dispersed all of its tickets.
Tickets brokers expect after that, ticket prices on StubHub and other sites will skyrocket.
There are a few people getting tickets for free. Notre Dame's Josh Burlow says each Irish football player gets 6 tickets to give to family and friends.
Notre Dame takes on Alabama in Miami at the Orange Bowl on Monday, January 7 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
