Study: Yelling at teens just makes things worse

September 04, 2013

Parents, if your teenager acts out are you more likely to raise your voice or try to settle the problem peacefully?

According to a new study, the more you shout, the worse your teen's behavior could become.

A University of Michigan study found that 13-year-olds who receive harsh verbal discipline from their parents suffer more depression and are more likely to misbehave at school. They are also more likely to lie to their parents, steal, and get into fights.
