FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A woman claims a teacher in Flint injured her son during an argument at school involving another student. The Flint Journal reports (http://bit.ly/ykI0iR) an assault report was filed Thursday after the boy complained of minor injuries. Police say they're investigating. The boy told police that he and another child were arguing in a classroom when he approached the other boy. Police were told the teacher grabbed the boy and swung him back, causing him to fall into a chalkboard ledge.

Police have identified the suspect in a murder that happened early Saturday morning in Elkhart. Police say Matthew Bark, 24, of Elkhart was shot around 1:30 a.m. following an argument with 26-year-old Terry L. Sheets Jr. of Elkhart. This happened at Deer Creeke Apartments in the 2800 block of Toledo Road. Bark was transported to Memorial where he later died. Investigators say they identified Sheets as the suspect and arrested him for murder. He was booked into Elkhart County Jail.

An early-morning argument Tuesday in an Elkhart apartment resulted in a man being stabbed in the arm and a woman being arrested. Elkhart Police were called to 350 Chapman Ave. just before 5 a.m. on a report of domestic battery while a child was in the apartment. The 27-year-old man was stabbed once in the arm with a knife, according to a police report. Police arrested Reshonda Johnson, 37, on a preliminary charge of domestic battery with a child present.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Police in Utah say a 10-year-old boy stabbed his mom in the back following a confrontation about household chores. West Valley Police Sgt. Mike Powell tells The Associated Press the 35-year-old mother was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital for stitches after the 7 a.m. Tuesday confrontation. Powell says the woman argued with the boy, then turned her back before the child wounded her with a small kitchen paring knife.

SOUTH BEND — Police say an argument between roommates in a group home led one of the men to set the building on fire. The fire took place at a small, yellow, ranch-style home in the 1000 block of East Byron Street just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the windows and one of the bedrooms fully engulfed. Both men living in the home, which is operated as an assisted living home by Partners in Opportunities, were able to escape without injuries.

GOSHEN - A Goshen man has been arrested for knifing a nephew. Police got a call from a woman on Brookside Manor just after midnight Tuesday. Officers were told two brothers got into an argument, waking up the uncle, 44-year-old Terry Lemler. Police were told Lemler came out of his bedroom with two knives that appeared to be small swords. He struck his 19-year-old nephew, Jason Lemler, on the head. Terry Lemler was taken to the Elkhart County Jail and booked for aggravated battery.

Dog bites man? Not really news. Man bites dog? Possibly news. Drunk woman bites dog numerous times? Now that's news - and that's what happened in Illinois. A 19 year old woman from Illinois has been charged by police with animal cruelty and domestic battery after biting a dog during an argument with her mother. Analise Garner and her mother, could be heard screaming by neighbours who called police to investigate. According to police reports, Analise Garner hit and scratched her mother's face and bit her on the hand during the argument.

BENTON HARBOR — A Benton Harbor man who was stabbed in the neck following a New Year’s Day argument has died and another Benton Harbor man has been arrested in connection with the crime. Police in Benton Harbor identified the victim as Jerry Pullen, 24. Arrested and arraigned Tuesday on an open murder charge was David Lee Roseburgh, 25. Police said the argument and stabbing occurred just before 1 a.m. Friday at 1184 Jennings St. Pullen was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center and transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, where he later died.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man who brandished a board and later a handgun during an argument involving a group of people on a Kalamazoo street was beaten with the board. Police say they found the 36-year-old man with head wounds on Thursday night. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Witnesses told police the man had the board when he approached a group of people and got into an argument with them. After the board was taken from him he pulled out a gun, and one person from the group beat him over the head with it until he fell to the ground.

INGERSOLL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a Midland County man threatened his wife with a running chain saw during an argument about trimming an apple tree. The Bay City Times and the Midland Daily News report the 47-year-old Ingersoll Township man was arrested Sunday at his home about 100 miles northwest of Detroit following the argument. The woman wasn't injured. Police say the man started the chain saw and walked toward his 48-year-old wife while swinging the saw in his hand.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A federal agency panel in Chicago will reconsider whether Indiana violated federal law when it decided to cut off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. Solicitor General Tom Fisher on Thursday asked the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to overturn its June 1 ruling that found changes in the state's Medicaid plan deprived women of freedom of choice of providers. The state says the law allows it to set qualifications for providers.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The attorney for an Indianapolis woman charged with murder and feticide for allegedly killing her premature baby by ingesting rat poison argues that there's no way Bei Bei Shuai (BAY BAY SHWAY) could have known she was committing a crime. The Indiana Court of Appeals heard arguments Tuesday as Shuai asked the court to order the charges against her dismissed or have her released on bail. Attorney Linda Pence argues that Indiana's law was written to protect fetuses from violence from third parties, not from their own mothers.

A local man pleaded guilty Monday to murdering a female friend earlier this year. Harlan Praul admitted in court he beat Christine Freeman unconscious last June. It happened at a home on East Haney Street. Praul told police they were dating and had gotten into an argument. Freeman died about a month later. Praul will be sentenced next month.

SOUTH BEND - A mother of two intentionally rammed into the father of her children's car after an argument Monday evening with her children in the car, police said. According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of E Calvert Street for a hit and run about 6 p.m. on Monday. When police arrived the father told them that he and the mother of his children, 23-year-old Linette Rivera, had gotten into an argument about her taking the child's motorized toy car home with her. According to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office, when he declined to let her do that, they began to argue and she got into her auto - with the children in the back seat - and smashed into his vehicle.
