Berrien County-based appliance company, KitchenAid, is apologizing after an inappropriate tweet was sent out on their company Twitter page following Wednesday night's presidential debate in Denver. The tweet was deleted soon after it was posted to their feed, but reports from CNN say that the tweet read: "Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! She died 3 days b4 he became president. " The tweet refers to the death of Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Lee Payne Dunham, who died just days before Obama was elected as president in 2008.

BERRIEN COUNTY -- There could be fewer police officers on the roads next year in Berrien County if the county commission approves cuts to the budget. Some say they are necessary to keep a balanced budget, others say they are a threat to public safety. Commissioners meet Thursday morning to talk about the 2013 budget and a group of concerned citizens will be joining them. Bob Hess has been logging a lot of miles lately. He has been going door to door, determined to send a message to the Berrien County Commission.

COLOMA, Mich. - This month is Lymphoma Awareness Month. A Coloma wife and mother of three is battling a rare form of this disease known as T-Cell Lymphoma cancer. Lisa Tavolacci gave birth to her third child earlier this year and soon after found a lump under her arm. Tavolacci had two lumps removed a few years ago and doctors felt she had Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory cell disease. "I had more lumps come in. One on my neck and they removed that as well.

We now know exactly why the Berrien County prosecutor decided not to file charges in the death of a man who was run over at a party, and we are hearing from his family who says it's the wrong decision. In March 21-year old Tyler Carr, a 2009 Watervliet High School graduate, was found dead in a field the morning after the party. This happened in Pipestone Township. Police say he had been "run over" by a truck pulling a trailer. Berrien County Prosecutor Art Cotter says to charge someone with reckless driving causing death, he has to prove the person was operating a vehicle with willful disregard for the safety of another.

A Berrien County teenager charged with shooting and killing her live-in boyfriend pleaded guilty in court this morning. In January, then 16-year-old Destiny Coulson of Berrien Springs was charged with murdering 21-year-old David DJ Quinn. Police say Coulson and Quinn were living in his home in Pipestone Township when the couple started a day and night of drinking and fighting that included threats of breaking up and suicide. Coulson, who turned 17 in March, was waived to adult court because of the seriousness of the crime.

GALIEN, Mich. - A Berrien County man accused of hiding a camera in the shower of a home is expected in court Friday. A woman says she found the camera between two shampoo bottles in a bathroom used by her three sons, ages 10, 12 and 14. Joseph Shoemaker, 35, of Galien is charged with eavesdropping and "capturing an image of an unclothed person. " Police are trying to figure out how long the camera was there, and if it recorded anything else. The family says Shoemaker was a friend they let live with them.

BERRIEN COUNTY -- A man is in critical condition after his trailer caught fire early Tuesday morning in Benton Township. It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Empire -- we're told that's in a mobile home park. The male occupant, who the Herald Palladium reports is 27-year-old Quentin McCutchen, is in Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where a hospital official says he's in critical condition. Lt. John Cayo with the Benton Township Fire Department says they are leaning toward the cause being a cooking fire.

If you live or work in Berrien County, expect to hear sirens starting today (Monday) near the Bridgman area. The Cook Nuclear Power Plant will be testing sirens for the next three weeks. There are 70 sirens around the plant that will be independently tested for one minute at a time. A spokesperson says if there's an actual emergency you would hear sirens for three minutes straight.

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - Five people were hurt in a three-car collision in St. Joseph. 82-year-old Maurice Alberti of Stevensville, Mich. appears to have been the most seriously hurt after his car was hit head-on by another car on South Lakeshore Dr. just north of Brown School Rd. around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Police say 31-year-old Timothy Foster of Ligonier, Ind. was heading south when he crossed into the turn lane and hit Alberti's Lincoln. A Land Rover right behind Alberti also slammed into his vehicle.

BERRIEN COUNTY -- As you drive into the city of Benton Harbor, the old Mercy Hospital is hard to miss. It's vacant and run-down. The county wants it gone. The owner wants it sold.
