BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. - Police say a drunk driver drove into her own home in Berrien Springs. It happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday. Officers were called to the 400 block of Michigan Ave. for a report of a vehicle that had just run into a house. The driver was a 40-year-old woman, although police have not released her name. Police do say the driver had a .16 blood alcohol level, twice the legal limit. She told investigators she had been trying to pull into her driveway when she hit her house.

Close to two-thousand people, most of them young girls from elementary schools all around Southwest Michigan, participated in the event, sponsored by the United Way. In three weeks voters in Michigan will have to decide whether to include collective bargaining rights in their state constitution. It is one of the most controversial items on the ballot and could have a major impact on Michigan. Here is what voters will see on the ballot: PROPOSAL 12-2 A PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE STATE CONSTITUTION REGARDING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING This proposal would: -Grant public and private employees the constitutional right to organize and bargain collectively through labor unions.

BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. - Michigan State police are investigating a multi-car crash that happened on Old U.S. 31 in Berrien County Wednesday afternoon. It happened just north of Berrien Springs, and police are urging drivers to avoid that area. 3 people were trapped. All were taken to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Berrien Springs and Orinoko police were called to the scene. Police say Old 31 was expected to be blocked to traffic because of the wreck until at least 7 p.m.

BERRIEN COUNTY - Early Wednesday, 17-year-old Destiny Coulson went to a women's state prison near Ann Arbor to serve at least the next 14 years for killing her boyfriend. The Berrien Springs teenager was sentenced Monday for murdering 21-year-old David "DJ" Quinn of Eau Claire. Late Tuesday night, WSBT Reporter Denise Bohn interviewed Coulson at the Berrien County Jail. The interview started at 11:15 p.m. and went until the early morning hours.
