WSBT has been following the investigation into missing money at the South Bend-area Crime Stoppers for a month and a half. Now we’ve learned the prosecutor has filed charges against the former treasurer. George Vincent Timlin turned himself in at the St Joseph County Jail on Tuesday night. He is a well-known South Bend businessman and volunteer who served as treasurer for the South Bend-area Crime Stoppers for more than 20 years. Local leaders with ties to Crime Stoppers say they are disappointed, shocked and surprised that Timlin is accused of the crime.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 2, 2009, Elkhart police officers were dispatched to 820 E. County Road 6 on a call of a man down with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, 26-year-old Drake Muncie, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital from the gunshot injury sustained. According to witnesses, there was some type of altercation between Muncie and an unknown male shortly before Muncie's death. If you know who killed Muncie and contact Crime Stoppers, you could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your information leads to an arrest.

SOUTH BEND — Police released no new information Friday into the shooting of a 46-year-old South Bend woman, who was injured when someone fired a gun into her workplace Wednesday night. Theresa Blake, who worked at Specialized Staffing Solutions, 1001 E. Jefferson, reportedly remains in critical condition at a hospital with a single gunshot wound to her head. Police are continuing to investigate the matter, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP or the Metro Homicide Unit at 235-5009.

LAGRANGE COUNTY - In crime watch, Indiana State Police need your help in solving a case involving the desecration and destruction of several tombstones in LaGrange County. Investigators sent pictures taken at Pretty Prairie Cemetery located in Howe. Police say vandals knocked over and damaged dozens of tombstones that date back to the 1800's. One of the tombstones was carried into the middle of the road and then smashed on the ground. Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange County Sheriff or Crime Stoppers.

South Bend police continue to follow leads in a shooting that left a woman critically injured last month. Teresa Blake, 46, was shot in the head through a first-floor window while working inside Specialized Staffing Solutions on East Jefferson December 8. She remains hospitalized. Investigators say they're going through about 600 names of people who were in the office at some point in the weeks before the shooting, but have no solid leads. Police say the shooting was probably not random, but they are not sure Blake was the intended target.

Around 8 p.m. Monday, Wash Shed Laundry Mat located in the 56000 block of Michigan 51 in Dowagiac was robbed. According to Dowagiac police, the suspect robbed the business at gunpoint and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are looking for a black male, over six feet tall, possibly in his 20’s, very thin wearing a dark blue jacket, dark blue skull/stocking cap and a blue/white bandana over his face. ELKHART — An 88-year-old woman was hospitalized Sunday morning after a robbery was reported at her home in the 500 block of Prairie Street. Elkhart Police said in a news release Monday that the woman had reported a burglary at the residence within the past week, but it was unknown whether the two incidents were related. Officials did not say how serious the woman’s injuries were or release any other details about the two reported crimes. DOWAGIAC, Mich. - Police in Dowagiac are hunting for a man who broke into a home early Thursday morning. Officers were called to the 100 block of Haines St. around 12:30 a.m. A woman, who lives at the home there, told police she saw a man inside her home after hearing some noises. She confronted the man, who then ran. Some items were missing from the home. Police describe the suspect as 5'9 to 6', slim build, possibly wearing a hat with dark clothing.

St. Joseph County police want your help to find the man who robbed a gas station Friday morning. They say around 7:30 a man walked in to the Admiral Gas Station on State Road 933, near Notre Dame. The clerk told police the man had a gun, and pushed one of the clerks to get money. They think he ran down Dubois Street to escape. SOUTH BEND – Police are looking for a man believed to have robbed a credit union on US 31 South. Police were dispatched to the AAA Credit Union Friday afternoon around 4:30. The suspect entered the credit union and demanded money and the teller complied. There was not a weapon displayed nor was a weapon mentioned. The suspect fled northbound from the credit union on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8”, 130 to 140 pounds and wearing black baggy clothes.

LAGRANGE COUNTY - Homeowners are being warned about a rash of daytime burglaries in LaGrange County. Police believe two groups of people have been breaking into homes, the latest of which happened Monday between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. when 14 guns were stolen from a house in the 10000 east block of CR 375 N. A combination of handguns and long guns were taken. Detectives say a crowbar was used to break into the house. The sheriff's department is urging homeowners to keep a close eye on their surroundings and call in any suspicious vehicles, people, or activity they see. ELKHART - Police have released the name of a suspect in a deadly shooting in Elkhart last month that happened in broad daylight. Investigators say bystanders took 34-year-old Eddie Johnson to Elkhart General Hospital after the April 30 shooting at the intersection of 6th and Cleveland just before 4:30 p.m. Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital. Elkhart police say they are looking for Leeshawn Nathaniel Rodgers, 19, of Elkhart. They say he is armed and dangerous.

RIVERVIEW, Mich. (AP) - Tips are being sought for information about the death of a suburban Detroit man whose body was found by an excavator driver at a southeast Michigan landfill. Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a reward for information about the death of 29-year-old Derek Golden of Grosse Pointe Park. The Detroit Free Press reports ( http://on.freep.com/14Q94M8 ) Golden disappeared Dec. 9 and his black 2006 Subaru Tribeca was found on Detroit's east side.

Dozens of people gathered on the Goshen College campus Tuesday to honor Jim Miller one year after his death. On October 9th 2011, Miller was killed and his wife seriously injured when someone broke into the family's home. That person still hasn't been caught. So where does the investigation stand now and why is there such a delay? The Goshen Police Department sent out the following release on September 24 th :   “On Sunday October 9th, 2011, shortly after 1 AM, Goshen Police were called to Wildwood Court in reference to a “Robbery in progress” call.

The FBI Violent Crime Task Force and Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety are investigating after a pipe bomb was set off at C.O.G.I.C Village apartment complex on Territorial Road. This happened Wednesday. Police say the blast blew out a window at 1914 Territorial Road - the apartment's office - and a fragment from the bomb blew through a window at 1958 Territorial Road. No one was injured. Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety o fficers at the scene requested Benton Harbor Fire Division as well as the Berrien County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad.

HAZEL PARK, Mich. (AP) — A 19-year-old Hazel Park man who was trying to buy a cell phone during a Craigslist transaction has been robbed and fatally shot. Police said in a release that the teen had posted a "wanted to buy" advertisement at the free online site and arranged to meet a seller near his home in the suburb about 5 miles north of Detroit. A 911 caller reported about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday that the unidentified victim had been shot once in the chest and was lying on the ground outside, moaning.

St. Joseph County Police released the name Friday of the 40-year-old man struck and killed while walking on S.R. 933, near the Orchard Street intersection. Steven Shirley had just gotten off a bus at its Auten Road stop about 7 p.m. Wednesday and began walking toward his house when he was hit by a northbound SUV, police said. Witnesses describe the vehicle as a dark-color SUV, possibly a Jeep Liberty or Dodge Durango, with a possible license plate number of F-S-B 96-10 or F-H-B 96-10.
