Meteorologist Cari Peugeot was born in Paducah, Kentucky. She became a Hoosier at 11, when her family moved to Fort Wayne. She is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Cari graduated with a degree in Geography/Meteorology and a minor in Telecommunications. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society. Originally Cari was interested in climatology, but she found her niche in forecasting and television instead. After graduating, she worked at WPBN/WTOM-TV in Traverse City, Michigan, where she was the weekend meteorologist.

Meteorologist Paul Emmick has been named Chief Meteorologist at WSBT-TV. Many viewers may remember Paul from his seven years at the Weather Channel based in Atlanta. He has also worked in local television markets forecasting and tracking storms in Indianapolis, Louisville and Evansville for over sixteen years.  Paul will forecast on WSBT News at 5, 5:30, 6, 10 and 11 as well as the South Bend Tribune and WSBT radio stations - Sunny 101.5, News Radio 960 WSBT, Real Country 99.9 and WZOC-FM.  Paul's first day on air will be Monday, November 28 at 5 p.m. on WSBT News.  “I'm excited to be in Michiana and look forward to the lake effect snow forecasting,” Paul said.

KINGSFORD HEIGHTS -  The Facebook craze continues to grow and now people are finding ways for it to make them money. One woman in Kingsford Heights is selling her homemade desserts on Facebook. Jennifer Marks is a stay at home mom who loves to bake. She took a couple of baking classes several years back and has been making her creations for family and friends ever since. "I do different desserts, mostly cakes some cookies and other desserts like rice crispy treats covered in chocolate," Marks said.

PORTAGE, Ind. (AP) - A northwest Indiana teenager has been arrested after police say he made online threats to go on a violent rampage. Nineteen-year-old Eric Rizley of Portage was being held Thursday in the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso. Police arrested Rizley on preliminary charges of intimidation early Thursday morning. The Times of Munster reports ( http://bit.ly/WWCWD8 ) that friends tried to calm Rizley down online after he allegedly made Facebook posts such as "Watch out portage people might be dying soon.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Lafayette woman who police say deliberately posted a nude photo of her teenage daughter on the girl's Facebook page faces charges of child exploitation and child pornography possession. The felony charges filed Wednesday in a Tippecanoe County court allege the 50-year-old woman posted the photo in November 2011. Detective Mark Pinkard tells the Journal & Courier ( http://on.jconline.com/QN3zsa ) that investigators spent a year collecting evidence, including issuing subpoenas to Facebook and the teen's cellphone provider.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The mother of a 14-year-old Flint boy who was beaten says she hopes a video posted on Facebook of the attack leads to arrests. Trina McNeil tells The Flint Journal (http://bit.ly/A941eC) for a Monday story that video of the Friday afternoon attack was posted on a Facebook page of one attacker. The newspaper published an edited version of the video on its website. McNeil says at least 25 people clicked Facebook's "like" button in response to the video.

WATERVLIET, Mich. (WWMT-TV) - A local school was on lock down following an on-line threat. Watervliet High School is on Saint Joseph Street. Police were called to the building this morning. From outward appearances it was business as usual. The police cars left a short time before noon. The school superintendent told us the doors to the building remained locked through the day. Thursday morning when students arrived at the high school they let the principal know of something they had seen online.

NILES — We are learning disturbing details about what happened the night a 17-year-old victim said she was forced to perform multiple sex acts in order to stop a sex video from appearing on Facebook. The criminal complaint explains each teen's role in the alleged crime. In the Niles High School yearbook, it was easy to see five high school students, some of them stand-outs on the athletic fields. In a flash, 18-year-olds Leon Murphy, Martise Washington, Trey Nichols, Parnell Martin and 17-year-old Martell Miller could lose it all. The five teens are still in Berrien County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.

MISHAWAKA — Thursday, the Mishawaka man accused of causing the car crash that claimed the life of Corporal James Szuba and his K-9 Ricky is due in court. Shawn Devine is scheduled for a hearing at 8 a.m. And with Devine's past criminal history, a lot of people are watching what happens with this case. Many of those people are on a site that has sprung up on Facebook. The site is called "Cpl. James Szuba and his partner, K9 Officer Ricky deserve JUSTICE!" Cpl. Rick Schutt, WSBT's newest anchor/reporter, is excited to be back in Michiana where he previously spent 10 years anchoring and reporting news and sports. Rick covered all the major stories in the area from 1996 -2007 while at WSJV-TV. He lists the leasing of the Toll Road, the time change in Indiana, the end of one-class basketball in the Hoosier State, and all the great Notre Dame teams as some of the more memorable stories he's reported on. He's also proud of the volunteering he did, helping numerous charities in Michiana over the years.

Jennifer Copeland is back! "I am SO happy to a part of the WSBT family again," Jennifer said. "After 7 years of being away, it feels great to be back in Michiana close to family. So many good memories were born here. "   Jennifer first worked at WSBT back in 2002. She began as a reporter for WSBT First Thing In The Morning and quickly rose through the ranks eventually becoming a top reporter for the station and occasional news anchor. "I'm extremely proud of our news team," Jennifer said.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio middle-school teacher has until later this week to respond to an allegation that she posted a Facebook photo of her students with their mouths covered with duct tape. The Akron Public Schools Board of Education voted last week to pursue the firing of Melissa Cairns. She's a math teacher at Buchtel Community Learning Center. The school district says the photo, posted on Cairn's personal Facebook page, showed some of her students with duct tape across their mouths.

BOSTON (AP) - Ben Affleck is taking his name off the list of possible candidates for U.S. Sen. John Kerry's seat, which would be open if the Democratic senator from Massachusetts is confirmed as secretary of state. Affleck says in a Monday posting on his Facebook page that while he loves the political process, he will not be running for public office. Speculation about the Cambridge, Mass., native rose slightly when he did not completely rule out a Senate bid during an appearance on CBS' Face The Nation on Sunday.

CASSOPOLIS - She refused to show her boss her Facebook page. Now a Michigan teacher's aide is receiving the backing of the state's biggest education union - they're filing a lawsuit on her behalf. Kimberly Hester says last April she posted a picture of a co-worker's pants around her ankles on Facebook. It showed just the pants, ankles and shoes. A parent found it offensive and reported it to the school district. Hester says the photo wasn't posted during work hours.

Rachel Lake joined the WSBT news team in October 2012 as a multi-media journalist. It's been a long journey, but Rachel's glad to be back in Indiana where she grew up. After graduating from Manchester College in 2007, she moved to Dalton, Georgia to anchor, produce and report at WDNN. A year and a half later, she moved out west for a weekend anchor/reporter position at KHAS in Hastings, Nebraska. She then moved to Fargo to anchor, report and produce, first at WDAY and then at KVLY.

MISHAWAKA - Are you suffering from a campaign social media hangover? Facebook, Twitter and blogs of all kinds are blowing up with reaction to the election. Many are venting or celebrating their political views for all the world to see. Some even lost Facebook friends because of this. "Treat others the way you would want to be treated even with social media," said Jenny Armentrout, professor at Saint Mary's College. It seems to be the golden rule...in real life and the virtual world.
