The Humane Society of Elkhart County posted a photo of a very lucky cat on their Facebook page Friday. “Amazingly, this cat was rescued by our Humane Officer and the Elkhart City street department. Someone tried to throw this guy over the overpass onto Main St. He luckily landed on part of the overpass signage.” “We've named him Freeway, and he is a lover!” they went on to post. The Humane Society says the cat was up there for two days. It  was fine other than a small scrape on its leg. It will be put up for adoption after standard vaccinations.

SOUTH BEND - Pro Health fitness center downtown has closed, posting a letter dated Friday on its front door and telling its patrons it will issue refunds for the next 45 days. The center, at 320 St. Joseph St., had originated for employees of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, which moved to a new building on Douglas Road in Mishawaka in 2009. The letter said the Pro Health center was sold in 2004 to a private owner, “who was committed to continuing to provide a service to the community, not necessarily as a revenue-generating business.” But the facility had endured too many losses in the last couple of years that it could no longer absorb, even as it made across-the-board cuts, the letter said.

Hester said Michigan State Representative Matt Lori (R - Constantine) contacted her Thursday morning. She added that he expressed interest in including her story in House Bill 5523. If passed, the legislation would make it illegal for employers to ask employees for social media login information.  Hester posted a picture of a co worker on her private Facebook page last April.
