INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A food-tasting panel has declared a confection called spaghetti and meatballs ice cream the signature food of this year's Indiana State Fair. The dish made by Monroe Concessions bested such offerings as micro beer cheese sauce and Hoosier caramel corn sundae to take the honor for this year's fair top food. LONDON (AP) — Local government officials have confiscated ice cream made with human breast milk from a London shop amid concerns the dessert is unsafe. A spokeswoman from Westminster City Council said Monday it was responding to two complaints from the public over whether a shop should be selling edibles made from other people's bodily fluids and awaiting guidance from Britain's Food Standards Agency. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with council policy.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Visitors to this year's Indiana State Fair can have their drink - and eat it too. Deep-fried Kool-Aid is one of the new foods being offered at this year's event by concessionaires Dennis and Cheryl Reas of Corydon. The Reases tell The Indianapolis Star the concoction looks like a red hush puppy but tastes like the powdered drink. The couple also will offer a sandwich featuring a chicken breast coated in cereal between two frozen waffles and an ice cream burger that has a cheeseburger adorned with Mexican ice cream along with traditional toppings like pickles and onion.

ELKHART - Elkhart police have nabbed two young men for the armed robbery of an ice cream shop on the city's south side. Around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to Michicoana Ice Cream at 246 W. Lusher Ave. after the business was held up. Police say two men entered the ice cream shop, pulled a handgun and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities say the suspects were seen getting into a black SUV. An officer later found the vehicle, which led to the arrests of 18-year-old Justin Quinones and a 15-year-old boy, both of Elkhart.

Driving and eating ice cream turned out not to be a successful multi-tasking experience Wednesday afternoon. Richard Turner, 49, of Warsaw, told an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department officer he was distracted by the ice cream he was eating and when he tried to pass a buggy. His minivan, southbound on S.R. 13 near C.R. 36, struck the buggy from behind. The buggy, driven by 13-year-old Lisa Miller of Ligonier, was badly damaged, but fortunately, the driver and two passengers, Leah Miller, 36, and Eva Miller, 11, had only minor injuries, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

MICHIGAN CITY - The director of Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City has been disciplined for allegedly having a party at the zoo after it was closed. Among the violations cited against Johnny Martinez were concessions like ice cream and slushies being eaten without being paid for and not picking up the litter. Originally, Martinez was suspended for five days but that was increased to 20 days Wednesday by the Michigan City Park Board. The decision came at the recommendation of parks superintendent Jan Orlich, who submitted a written statement to the board.

An ice cream man on his route in LaPorte had the back window of his truck shot out.  According to LaPorte Police, it appears a BB gun was used judging by the small size of the hole in the glass   Investigators Thursday were at a loss to come up with a suspect because the driver did not see anyone around or what direction the shooter fired the shot. "That's the problem.  We don't really have anything to go on right now," said LaPorte Police Capt. Tom Heath.
