Tornadoes are not in our forecast today, but expect to hear tornado sirens. Tornado drills are planned this morning and evening across Indiana. The National Weather Service, Indiana State Police, the Indiana Broadcasters Association and other state and local agencies will conduct the tests. The drill is part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which is meant to better educate people about the dangers of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

Indiana State Police say a husband and wife died in a Thursday morning crash at U.S. 6 and Miami Trail in Marshall County. The crash, which happened just west of Bremen, occurred around 11:30 a.m. Charles Avery, 80, of South Bend was driving southbound on Miami Trail when he pulled into the path of a semi headed westbound. Charles was killed instantly. His passenger, Virginia Avery, was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where she later died, say police.

Indiana State Police have arrested two men in connection to the murder of an 81-year-old Fulton County woman, but they are still looking for one man. Investigators believe 24-year-old Roy Bell of Rochester is possibly armed and should be considered dangerous. An order of probable cause has been issued by the Fulton Court for Bell to be arrested on murder, robbery, and burglary charges. If you see him, call Indiana State Police at 1-800-382-06-89. Police have received tips that he could be in northwest Fulton County, or southern Marshall County.

A former LaPorte County police officer is under close observation at IU Health LaPorte Hospital after threatening to kill himself when police tried to arrest him on child molestation charges. David Oldham, 42, is already facing federal child porn and evidence tampering charges, and on the state level he is charged with child exploitation. He has a hearing in May on those charges. Tuesday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., Michigan City Police along with deputies from the United States Marshall's Service went to Oldham's home on West Andrea Drive in rural LaPorte Country to arrest him on a new charge of child molestation.

PORTER COUNTY - An Indiana State Police trooper got quite a scare early Wednesday when he stopped to help a stranded motorist and was hit. ISP Sgt. Ann Wojas says a preliminary investigation shows that Master Trooper Jeff Council stopped behind a disabled vehicle on I-94 at the 31.5 mile marker, 2 ½ miles west of the Michigan City exit, around 1:15 a.m. Both Council's marked squad car and the disabled vehicle were pulled completely off...

Indiana State Police say meth labs are increasing at an alarming rate. As of June 30th, police have found and destroyed 741 labs -- a 33 percent increase since 2008. And that's not the only disturbing news, the number of children identified in homes with meth labs has gone up as well. Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Investigators at the Bremen Post say Elkhart and Kosciusko Counties are at the top of the list when it comes to the most meth labs in the state. While investigators don't know why the numbers are so high in our area, they do know meth cooks are learning how to get around the law. According to the Indiana State Police, 1,346 labs were handled by ISP. Total Meth Labs Seized by ISP Labs: 2010 - 1,346 2009 - 1,343 2008 - 1,059 2007 - 820 2006 - 766 As of June 30th, ISP had seized 741 meth labs.

GOSHEN - The Elkhart County prosecutor is now reviewing the police action shooting of an Elkhart County man. This happened after a traffic stop. As police approached Melvin Bledsoe's truck, he took off, leading them on a 10-minute chase through Goshen last month. It ended when officers say Bledsoe drove his truck into a building. Shortly after that, Goshen police officer Joshua Havens shot and killed Bledsoe. A witness told WSBT his daughter saw Bledsoe shoot at police.

LAGRANGE COUNTY - In crime watch, Indiana State Police need your help in solving a case involving the desecration and destruction of several tombstones in LaGrange County. Investigators sent pictures taken at Pretty Prairie Cemetery located in Howe. Police say vandals knocked over and damaged dozens of tombstones that date back to the 1800's. One of the tombstones was carried into the middle of the road and then smashed on the ground. Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange County Sheriff or Crime Stoppers.

Indiana State Police have charged a man in connection with the murder of a South Bend woman. Nathan Huey-Dingle, 30, of Chicago is charged with the murder of 20-year-old Rachel Woods. He's also charged with aggravated battery, promoting prostitution, intimidation and criminal confinement. Police were called to check on an unresponsive woman on the shoulder of I-65 southbound near Rensselaer last Thursday. Woods was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where she later died.
