The National Weather Service is giving us a word of warning. Scattered thunderstorms were forecast Sunday afternoon, with the main threat being damaging wind gusts. Winds of 20 to 35 MPH were expected with gusts of 45 to 50 MPH possible during the afternoon and early evening hours. The higher gusts are expected near the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Wind Advisory is in effect for all of northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - A St. Joseph High School, Mich. senior is the new Mr. Blossomtime. Jalen Holmes won the title Sunday night during the contest at The Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. 39 young men from around southwest Michigan competed for the crown. Last year's Mr. Blossomtime, Agape Mpamira, was stripped of his title after getting in trouble for drunk driving. He is in jail awaiting a trial in April. Tonight is the Miss Blossomtime Contest. It starts at 7 p.m. at Lake Michigan College's Mendel Center.

Meteorologist Cari Peugeot was born in Paducah, Kentucky. She became a Hoosier at 11, when her family moved to Fort Wayne. She is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Cari graduated with a degree in Geography/Meteorology and a minor in Telecommunications. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society. Originally Cari was interested in climatology, but she found her niche in forecasting and television instead. After graduating, she worked at WPBN/WTOM-TV in Traverse City, Michigan, where she was the weekend meteorologist.

ST. JOSEPH-- Monday was a relatively calm day on Lake Michigan, but it's what you can't see that could be dangerous. From 2000 to 2010, rip currents killed more people nationwide than tornadoes, and with summer fast approaching, Berrien County Commissioners are taking steps to keep your visit to the beach safe. County commissioners are considering a proposal to install a dozen life rings that would be spaced out along the pier. The pier at Silver Beach County Park had life preserver rings 20 years ago, but they were removed due to vandalism.

ST. JOSEPH, Mich -- Of course cold temperatures can turn water to ice in a matter of minutes. So it shouldn't be a surprise that some structures along Lake Michigan are starting to look like giant ice sculptures. We visited the famous lighthouse in St. Joseph, Mich. The sight of the small lighthouse that sits at the mouth of the St. Joseph River looked like something from a movie. Thick ice covers half the more than a century-old building. But the Coast Guard says the old landmark can take it. If you didn't know better, you might swear that you're inside Superman's Fortress of Solitude.
