BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. - Michigan State police are investigating a multi-car crash that happened on Old U.S. 31 in Berrien County Wednesday afternoon. It happened just north of Berrien Springs, and police are urging drivers to avoid that area. 3 people were trapped. All were taken to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Berrien Springs and Orinoko police were called to the scene. Police say Old 31 was expected to be blocked to traffic because of the wreck until at least 7 p.m.

Police have captured a man suspected in an armed robbery of a Cass County laundromat on Friday. A car belonging to 39-year-old Edward Payson Wing was spotted Monday afternoon by police. He is believed to be responsible for the robbery of the Hilltop Laundry in Union last week. After being spotted, Wing drove his car into a cornfield then ran away in the area of Walnut Road near Sears Street in Calvin Twp . Michigan State Police deployed a helicopter and two K-9 units to look for him. He was arrested early Tuesday morning.

LAKESIDE - Police are investigating a weekend home invasion in Berrien County that left a woman badly injured. The small town of Lakeside is known for its quaint antique shops, roadside diners and close neighbors. This weekend the quiet area received quite a shock after learning one of their long-time residents was attacked. It happened between 11:15 and 11:30 Friday night in the 8700 block of East Road in Lakeside, north of New Buffalo. Police say a masked man broke into the home of 61-year old Ann Dawson.

A two-vehicle head-on crash on M-60 east of Pine Lake Street in Cass County's Howard Twp. killed 33-year-old Jeremy Adams of South Bend Sunday afternoon Michigan State Police say another car drifted over the center line and hit Adams. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who police say crossed the center line was 69-year-old Charles Barnes of Niles. Two passengers in Barnes' vehicle were treated at the scene for their injuries. Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Michigan State Police hope releasing information about a fugitive sex offender will turn up leads in their search for him. Joseph Alli, 74, has failed to verify his address and has a four count felony warrant for that, according to the Michigan State Police Fifth District Fugitive Team. Alli also has a felony warrant for child fondling out of Cass County. Police say Alli is likely homeless and may be staying in homeless shelters in the South Bend, Niles or Dowagiac area.

EDWARDSBURG - The motorist killed in a fiery crash early Sunday on Redfield Road, east of Fir Road, has been identified as 24-year-old Evan Sobecki of Granger. Michigan State Police in Niles say dental records were used to confirm identification. The records check wasn't completed until Thursday. Police said Sobecki was driving a sport-utility vehicle shortly after midnight that left the road, struck a tree and was engulfed in flames. Police say he was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

On Monday we could learn the name of a driver killed in a fiery weekend crash in Cass County. It happened just after midnight Sunday. Michigan State Police tell us an SUV crashed into trees near the intersection of Redfield Street and Fir Road. By the time officers got there, the car was on fire. Police say no one saw the accident, only the aftermath. Neighbors tell us this stretch of road is a common place where cars attempt to pass each other, but it's not clear if that played a role in this crash.

NILES, Mich. - Michigan State Police are investigating a serious two-car crash in Cass County. Authorities say a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Larry Pierce of Niles failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of a truck. It happened around 6:15 a.m. Friday on East Main Street near Reum Road in Milton Township. Pierce was rushed to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he was in intensive care. Police say both drivers were not wearing their seat belts.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old man in the 900 block of Lavette Avenue in Benton Harbor. CLICK HERE FOR A MAP Officers dispatched to Lavette around 2:49 a.m. Sunday found Xavier Steward of Benton Township lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Michigan State Police were the first on scene and gave aid until medics arrived to take Steward to Lakeland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say a man involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident last night has turned himself in. Now, the family of the victim speaks out. "You know if you hit somebody, you should stop. But he didn't. I hope he just gets justice out of this," said Aron Brigham, the victim's nephew. Charles Lintz, 51, died after being hit by a car on M-60 near Lilac Street, just east of Niles. The accident happened sometime after 9 Sunday night. A passerby saw Lintz's body in the road with no shoes on and a jacket pulled up over his head.
