MedFlight was dispatched to an accident on County Road 22 in Elkhart County after a man drover into a tree. This happened in Goshen just before 11 Tuesday night near the Middlebury city limits. MIDDLEBURY - A Middlebury teen was hurt when his bicycle was hit by a pickup truck Wednesday morning. Elkhart County police say the pickup was heading east on County Road 116, east of County Road 16 near Middlebury when the truck collided with the bike driven by 13-year-old Devon Yoder. Authorities say the driver of the pickup was staying on the right side to make sure there was enough room for an oncoming semi when the collision occurred. The pickup driver told police he could not see the bicycle due to the glare from the rising sun. The accident happened around 8 a.m. Yoder was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for head lacerations.

MIDDLEBURY - An update to a hit-and-run we've been following since July. Police have wrapped up their investigation and turned the case over to the Elkhart County prosecutor. Zion Carlstrom was hit while riding her bike with her brother on July 11 on County Road 35 near Middlebury. The 17-year-old suffered serious injuries to her brain, arms, and legs. She is now recovering at a rehab facility. Police say the man that hit her admitted to driving the car and leaving the scene, but he was never arrested.

MIDDLEBURY - A semi collided with a buggy Tuesday, but a 74-year-old woman inside the buggy escaped serious injury. The accident happened around 3:20 p.m. at U.S. 20 east of County Road 43 in front of Indiana Wood Products southeast of Middlebury. The woman inside the buggy was taken to the hospital, but Capt. Jim Bradbury of the Elkhart County Sheriff's Dept. told WSBT the injuries don't appear to be life-threatening. Bradbury said a news release with the details of the crash would later be released.

MIDDLEBURY - A special group of cyclists from the United States and Australia are teaming up to ride across the country in honor first responders, and they're getting help from a local RV company. The Tour of Duty is riding across the U.S. from San Diego to New York on a 2,600 mile trek. It's made up of police, firefighters, and military from both countries. The ride pays tribute to the hundreds of people who responded to the attacks on 9-11 in New York and Washington D.C. and those fighting now for security and peace.

MIDDLEBURY - It's been seven weeks since a Middlebury man admitted to police he was behind the wheel of a car that hit a 17-year-old girl on her bicycle, then left the scene. But that man, 26-year-old Pasquale Rulli, still has not been arrested or charged. In fact, the Chief Investigator for the Elkhart County Prosecutor's office said they still don't have the report from police. Sheriff Brad Rogers said that's because the investigation is still open. But friends and family of the vibrant, outgoing teen police say Rulli hit are focused on her recovery.

MIDDLEBURY - Elkhart County Police are hoping to wrap up their investigation this week into a stray bullet that hit a scoreboard during a Little League baseball game near Middlebury. The bullet hit a scoreboard on Saturday when the ballpark was crowded with parents and players participating in a baseball tournament. On Monday, police used metal detectors to try to locate the actual bullet. Elkhart County Detective Chuck Osterday says the bullet came from a gun being fired from one of three people who were target practicing behind a house a half-mile away from the ball field.

MIDDLEBURY -- Police say a stray bullet struck the scoreboard of a Middlebury little league field Saturday morning. According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, just before noon Saturday, police arrived at the Wendell Bontrager Little League Park in the 12000 block of County Road 12 on a complaint that a bullet had gone through one of the field's scoreboards. A police investigation showed that a person target shooting nearby was responsible for the damage. A viewer tells us that the shooting happened while a baseball tournament was being held at the facility.

A Shipshewana teen driving a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick lost control of the vehicle on S.R. 120 west of S.R. 13 Friday night. The vehicle went down an embankment and crashed into a utility pole, injuring the driver and four passengers. The driver, 18-year-old Kristine Garten, was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of a broken knee cap and possible head injury. As of Saturday morning, she is listed in fair condition, according to a nursing supervisor. A backseat passenger, Brooke Stephenson, 16, of White Pigeon, also was airlifted to Memorial for treatment of a possible head injury.
