MISHAWAKA, Ind. - What's too sexy when it comes to prom dresses? Formals are just weeks away and a student is trying to figure out what to do after discovering she can't go to one of them because of the dress code. The young lady spent close to $400 on the dress. Add in alterations and accessories - she's invested in this evening. And many women can feel for her. This is a big night in a young women's life. So when she was told she couldn't wear the dress of her dreams to the dance, she was heartbroken.

A local high school softball coach is on administrative leave following his arrest. Police arrested Robert Egyhazi for domestic battery Sunday night. He's accused of grabbing and pushing a woman who lives with him. Egyhazi works as a softball coach at Mishawaka High School, but is not a teacher there. He's on leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.

The sixth and last Mishawaka High School wrestler accused in the sex-type assault on a then 15-year-old teammate two years ago has been found guilty. Five of the six were found guilty or pleaded guilty of various charges in the case. Because all involved were juveniles at the time, none of their names are being released. Former Mishawaka wrestling coach Darrick Snyder resigned this spring. He was not charged in the case.

An internal investigation at Mishawaka High School is underway into the alleged sexual assault of a high school wrestler by six of his teammates. The victim told police the assault happened almost two years ago. The case is being handled in juvenile court. The wrestling coach is suspended. Superintendent Terry Barker says the school is cooperating with the county prosecutor and has been given the go-ahead to begin its own investigation. Barker says their investigation will try to determine what happened, the actions of all involved and whether they complied with school policies.

SOUTH BEND - A magistrate's ruling Monday closed much of the trial of four Mishawaka High School students to the public, a similar decision that was made last week in the case of two others. On Monday, Magistrate Harold E. Brueseke agreed with a prosecutor's motion to close certain parts of the case that alleges six different teens assaulted a male student in early 2010 at school. St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor Elizabeth McGrath said the victim, now 17, has already suffered considerable embarrassment from the publicity surrounding the case.

SOUTH BEND - A former Mishawaka High School wrestler is waiting for a judge's order to determine if he is guilty of sexually assaulting one of his teammates.  During the status hearing two wrestlers also accused of assault were among the seven witnesses prosecutors had on their list to testify. In the copy, obtained by WSBT News, the first witness on the list was marked out. Because a judge ordered the status hearings closed to the public, no one from the Juvenile Justice Center could confirm if it was the name of the victim.

A Mishawaka High School grad was on hand with other members of his Navy unit to help rescue a family in California.   Benjamin Mead, 27, is serving with the Navy unit that rescued a mother and her two daughters from a car dangling from a freeway bridge. The woman's BMW collided with a semi which forced the car to slam into the concrete guardrail. The truck went over the guardrail and burst into flames upon impact below, killing the driver. The mother and her two children were taken to a local hospital where they are expected to make a full recovery.

Five teenagers, implicated in an alleged sexual attack at Mishawaka High School two years ago, were expected in court Monday afternoon. They face attempted criminal deviate conduct accusations. A police report says two years ago a student was held down and sexually assaulted by six teens, but he didn't report the attack until last month. A source tells WSBT the victim and the suspects were all on the Mishawaka High School wrestling team.  The sixth teenager has already been arrested and is now on an electronic tether.

STATEHOUSE - Mishawaka High School sophomore Anna Rohrer was honored at the Statehouse with a resolution authored by State Representative Dale DeVon (R-Granger). Rohrer was recognized in House Concurrent Resolution 38 for outstanding athletic achievement in the Foot Locker High School Cross Country National Championship. “It was a pleasure to have Anna and her parents visit the Statehouse,” said Rep. DeVon. “Anna is already incredibly accomplished in her academic and athletic career.

MISHAWAKA - Mishawaka High School is celebrating a national champion. Sophomore Anna Rohrer won the Foot Locker National High School Cross Country Championship in San Diego over the weekend. During a pep rally at MHS Monday afternoon, Mayor Dave Wood read a proclamation naming Saturday, December 8 Anna Rohrer Day in the Princess City. She got a little emotional with all the attention. “I was just overwhelmed,” said Rohrer. “I guess I did cry, cause I was not expecting that award the mayor gave me at all. I can't believe all the support and how happy people are for me and our school.

SOUTH BEND - Crowds showed up at the South Bend Regional Airport this afternoon to greet Mishawaka High School sophomore Anna Rohrer, who won the Foot Locker National High School Cross Country Championship in San Diego. On hand were a number of family members, classmates, and team mates to welcome her home. She actually fell during the race but she still managed to finish first.  “It's just insane, the whole experience,” Rohrer said. “It's kind of like living your wildest Dream, and so it's been great meeting all the athletes and having my family come along with me and everyone here when getting back.

The city of Mishawaka will officially cut the ribbon on a $7.5 million renovation project in downtown. The city used a combination of grants, tax dollars and a loan to pay for the renovation of the old Mishawaka High School. 102 year old building has been turned into senior apartments. It is now called the Mishawaka Main Junior High Apartments and will be managed by the Mishawaka Housing Authority. There are 32 apartments inside, each is unique, with high ceilings and large windows.

The Mishawaka football team is on their way to Indianapolis to play for the state championship this afternoon...for the first time since 1974! CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS The coaches & team left town from Mishawaka High School around 7:30 this morning. Five police cars escorted the team through the city and out to the Bypass. The team ate breakfast together and had a special prayer time before climbing on chartered buses that were covered with their names and inspirational messages.

Mishawaka High School has chosen its next head wrestling coach. Superintendent Dr. Terry Barker announced Monday that Bryce Hasseman is set to take over the Cavemen program, pending school board approval. Hasseman won an individual state title in Indiana at Franklin High School in 2000. He wrestled collegiately at the Division I level at Bloomsburg University, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in 2005. Hasseman was a volunteer assistant coach with Division I college powerhouse Oklahoma State the past three years.

To find the school's next head football coach, Elkhart Memorial athletic director Frank Kurth didn't have to look very far. Memorial hired Bill Roggeman to head the program on Thursday. Roggeman was an assistant coach with the Chargers from 2007-09. "I just really had a great experience there," Roggeman told WSBT. "I just really liked it. I like the people. " Kurth told WSBT the things that appealed to him about Roggeman were his experience, familiarity with the area, and the "great job" he did as an assistant.

The 6th and final wrestler in the Mishawaka High School sexual assault case had his trial before a juvenile judge on Thursday.   We've learned he was found not guilty of criminal deviant conduct but guilty of misdemeanor battery. The case has remained in juvenile court, so no one has been named. The 6 high school students were charged with trying to sexually assault a teammate 2 years ago. 4 of the 6 have either pleaded guilty or been found guilty so far. One of the wrestlers tried Wednesday is still waiting for the verdict in his case.

It was a difficult Memorial Day weekend for a Mishawaka family after learning their loved one, Sgt. Lucas Oppelt, was critically injured in Afghanistan. Despite severe injuries, Oppelt's family says he is improving and is scheduled to be back in the United States Tuesday night. Lucas' wife, Amy, is pregnant with their second child. They also have a 5-year-old son Peyton and live in North Carolina. Lucas is a graduate of Mishawaka High School. Lucas' sister, Hannah Mapa, says he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device Saturday in Afghanistan where he was serving as a medic with the 82nd Airborne.
