MISHAWAKA - Following a huge fire at a former Mishawaka foundry, people who kept vehicles inside the building for storage are beginning to assess the damage to their property. The RMG Foundry has been closed for a number of years. Most recently, the building was being used to store hundreds of cars, trucks, R-V's and boats. Bill Tobolski stored two boats in the building, and he estimates his losses at about $30,000. Tobolski says he found out about the fire from a friend.

MISHAWAKA - Fire officials are keeping a close eye on three "hot spots" that continue to smolder in the debris of a section of the old RMG Foundry in Mishawaka. Tuesday night flames were spotted from a section of the roof still remaining. Firefighters quickly put those out. But officials admit they are concerned about the fire re-igniting and spreading to other parts of the property that were untouched by Monday night's massive fire. Mishawaka fire investigator Steve Gregg says a large group of insurance adjusters will be on site Thursday to conduct their investigation for people who are filing claims.

MISHAWAKA - Firefighters Tuesday evening were still tackling the fire at the old RMG Foundry. The flames out are, but hot spots are still the issue. More than 200 RVs, boats and collectible cars went up in flames and the building next to the central fire station at 9th and Union Streets burned to the ground. After dousing the hot spots, investigators have the huge task of trying to figure out what started the fire Monday night. It's called one of the biggest fires in Mishawaka in decades.

MISHAWAKA - Mishawaka's newest fire station is open. An official dedication ceremony was held on Sunday for the new station number 4 at 3000 East Harrison Road. Public tours were given, and there was quite a large turnout. The new building replaces the city's old fire station on Lincolnway East that was built back in 1929. Instead of a ribbon cutting Sunday, officials connected a new fire hose with one from the 1929 era. “For one thing, the old station on Lincolnway is too small to fit today's apparatus,” said Fire Chief Dale Freeman.
