ELKHART COUNTY -- A woman is dead after she drowned in an Elkhart County pond Wednesday evening. Police say the woman, identified by police as Geraldine Wise, drowned in a pond located in the 23000 block of Wilshire Boulevard just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is unclear what the circumstances were following the incident, but we will provide more updates as they become available.

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana conservation officers have rescued a 6-year-old boy from an icy pond in central Indiana. First Sgt. Paul Bykowski (BIE'-kow-skee) says divers recovered the boy from a Brown County pond about 3:45 p.m. Sunday. The boy initially was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital before being airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Brown County sheriff's deputies took a call from a private residence that the boy had fallen through ice on a nearby pond, but first responders could not find the boy.

AVILLA, Ind. (AP) - The body of a 20-year-old Indiana man who went missing in December has been found in a private pond in the state's far northeastern corner. The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reports (http://bit.ly/xP3cqu) that James D. Sizemore's body was identified after it was found Friday floating in the Noble County pond by the person who owns the land. The Noble County Sheriff's Department says Sizemore's death remains under investigation. Noble County Sheriff Doug Harp says Sizemore's girlfriend reported him missing Dec. 23. He was last seen the day before as he walked through some woods by his family's home in the town of Avilla.

ATTICA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The Lapeer County Sheriff's Department says an 8-year-old boy drowned in a pond on a farm in Attica Township. The Detroit Free Press says family members contacted authorities about 4:15 p.m. Saturday after the boy disappeared. The department says he was playing with siblings around a small wading pool in the backyard. The department says the boy apparently wandered off and entered the pond. He was found unconscious there about 5:40 p.m. An investigation continues.

The body of a 73-year-old Goshen man was pulled from a pond behind his home in the 61300 block of County Road 17 Tuesday afternoon, the victim of an apparent drowning. A report from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources identified the man as Carlton Yoder. Family members reported seeing Yoder at noon and reported him missing at 1 p.m., telling the DNR that Yoder frequently fished the pond on his property. Goshen firefighters recovered his body from the pond.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana man rescued his two children from drowning after they were trapped in a frozen pond. Indiana Conservation Officer Patrick Heidenreich says 8-year-old Samantha Buuck ventured onto a frozen pond behind her family's home in Fort Wayne Saturday and fell through the ice. Her 12-year-old brother, Anthony, jumped in and swam to her, and both children began yelling for help. Dale Buuck heard his children yelling outside and was able to push them into shallower water so they could climb out. The boy began CPR on Samantha and then called 911 after his father took over.

MISHAWAKA - A little boy nearly drowned after falling into a pond behind a Mishawaka apartment complex late Tuesday morning. Witnesses told WSBT the boy was 3- or 4-years-old and was autistic. He tried to reach for something colorful in the water and fell in. Mishawaka police, firefighters and EMT workers all responded to the scene at the Remington Court Apartments on Main Street in Mishawaka around 11:30 a.m. ...

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in southeastern Michigan have filed a murder charge against the boyfriend of a competitive billiards player whose body was found inside a suitcase in an Indiana pond. Divers found the body of 45-year-old Dawn Fital on Thursday. Authorities say her boyfriend helped lead them to the scene in northwest Indiana's Lake County, where he's being jailed. The deputy police chief for Michigan's Pittsfield Township says authorities filed an open murder charge against 44-year-old Gregory Noack.

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in Washtenaw County say they believe a body found in a pond is that of a 19-year-old driver who disappeared three days earlier after crashing his car into a condo complex. Pittsfield Township public safety Director Matt Harshberger says a maintenance worker at Weatherstone Condos called Saturday morning to report finding the body at the Ann Arbor-area complex. The Detroit Free Press ( http://on.freep.com/S13Tx4 ) says investigators are using dental records to confirm the dead man is Nathan Tracy of Trenton.

Starke County police were called to the 600 block of State Road 23 on a report that a 5-year-old child had fallen in a small pond and wasn't responding. Police found the child partially in the water.
