WARSAW -- A Syracuse man is behind bars after an armed robbery at a Warsaw Walgreens Saturday morning. Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 2400 block of East Center Street in Warsaw just after 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The pharmacist told police that a male entered the business with his face covered and displayed a handgun. The man jumped over the pharmacy counter and pointed the gun at the pharmacist. The suspect demanded narcotics and left with several bottles.

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY -- St. Joseph County Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Monday night at the Family Video store in the 51000 block of State Road 933. Police say a suspect entered the store around 11:00 p.m. Monday and demanded money from the store clerk. A weapon was not displayed but the victim saw what she thought was the handle of a gun in the suspect’s pocket. After getting cash, the suspect left northbound from the store on foot. South Bend Police dispatched a K-9 unit at the scene to track the suspect.

A Sunday night customer turned armed robber at Rita’s Convenience Store is being sought by Nappanee Police. About 8 p.m., a white man, early-to-mid 20s, entered the store at 2068 E. Market St. and demanded money from the store’s clerk. After a physical altercation with the female clerk, the suspect ran northwest from the store, according to a police report. Suspect description Age: Early-to-mid 20s Race: White Sex: Male Clothing: Dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark color bandana worn over his face, black sweatpants Weight: 160 to 180 lbs. Eyes: Blue Height: 5-foot 6-inches to 5-foot 10-inches Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is asked to call Detective Capt.

Plymouth Police acted on information they received about the Feb. 16 People’s Drug Store burglary and found the suspect on Tuesday at his home. A Plymouth Police Department news release noted Adam Lolmaugh, 23, of Plymouth, admitted to the burglary in which pseudoephedrine was taken from the North Michigan Street store. Police were notified of the late-night break-in after the store’s alarm was tripped by the store’s glass front door being smashed.

The following release was issued by Kosciusko County police Monday morning: A Warsaw couple is currently being held in the Whitley County Jail on numerous charges including an armed robbery from Kosciusko County. Christopher Alan Gressley, 30, and Anita Lynn Moore, 28, Warsaw, were arrested Friday evening and are being held on numerous charges by both Whitley and Kosciusko County.  The arrest originated Friday evening at approximately 6:41 p.m. when South Whitley officers Blake Forrester and Chuck LeWallen were investigating a stopped van just outside of town.  During the course of their stop, Gressley and Moore were both found to have suspended driver's license.  Officers also noted that their two small children appeared to have not been taken care of properly and Child Protective Services were contacted.  During the inventory of the van, officer's located synthetic marijuana and devices used to smoke the substance.  Both Gressley and Moore were transported to the Whitely County Jail as the children were taken into protective custody.

ELKHART — Elkhart police arrested three teens this week who they believe are responsible for the burglary last month of the Lifeline Youth for Christ building at 174 State St. Several items were stolen, including computers, printers, game systems and projectors, and offices were damaged. The damage and missing items are valued at more than $8,000. At least one of the suspects involved had been a member of the Lifeline program since the fourth grade. The same suspects, Tarrance Bush, an 18-year-old from Chicago, and two 17-year-olds from Elkhart, were also charged with an attempted residential burglary in December.

HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a Detroit-area man claims that he was beaten and robbed by a group of men prior to an arranged sexual encounter with a woman he had been communicating with on Facebook. No arrests were reported Wednesday from Sunday's attack in Oakland County's Highland Township, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report that the 34-year-old Novi man suffered a broken jaw. The man told police he and the woman met at a gas station and that he followed her to a park where he was ambushed.

DETROIT (AP) — A man suspected in the holdup of a restaurant at a suburban Detroit shopping mall is believed to have committed suicide during a foot chase with police. Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad says the unidentified man fired several shots at an officer shortly after 9 a.m. Monday before "he took his own life. " Haddad says at least two men robbed the Starters restaurant at Fairlane Town Center just west of Detroit about 9 a.m. An employee called 911 and gave a description of the car the men were in and the direction they fled.

MISHAWAKA — A 22-year-old South Bend man told police that a woman’s request for a ride home was instead a set up for a robbery Sunday morning. According to police reports, the man said he was at a party in South Bend when he agreed to drive a girl to her boyfriend’s house in Mishawaka. But arriving at the home on Easton Drive, the man said, he was held up by an unknown man holding what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun. The victim said the robber demanded money, then became upset when he learned the victim had none.

LAKETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 63-year-old man with stage 4 lymphoma, steady nerves and a double-barreled shotgun thwarted a break-in at his western Michigan home and convinced two suspects to surrender, police said. Dixon Smith said he confronted the two young men just before noon Thursday after they climbed the stairs to the second floor of his home in Muskegon County's Laketon Township. Smith and police believe one of the suspects picked the front door lock with a credit card.
