CONYERS, Ga. (AP) — A toddler spent two hours trapped in a bank vault in suburban Atlanta. Conyers firefighters rescued the 14-month-old from the vault Friday night after the child went missing while visiting a grandparent who worked at the Wells Fargo bank in Conyers. The child was found after being spotted on security cameras inside the vault, which has a timed locked. Rescue workers arrived and pumped fresh air into the vault while a locksmith worked on prying loose the door.

NEW TRENTON, Ind. (AP) — Searchers have found the body of a 17-month-old Kentucky boy who fell into the Whitewater River when his parents' kayak capsized. Indiana Conservation Officer William Browne said the body of Mitchell O'banion of Florence, Ky., was located about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Search and rescue crews found the body in the river near New Trenton, about 25 miles west of Cincinnati. His parents, Carmen Sickmeier and Lawrence O'banion, released a statement earlier Saturday expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the search for the boy. The kayak capsized Wednesday near the Franklin County community of Cedar Grove, about two miles upriver from where the body was found.

HOUSTON (AP) - An 18-month-old boy is missing after an SUV was stolen from a Walmart parking lot in Houston with him strapped in the back seat. Houston Police spokesman Kese (KEES) Smith says Evan Montgomery Lamar Miller's 7-year-old cousin jumped out of the green, 1996 Jeep Cherokee when the car thief climbed in. The toddler was still inside when the man drove away. Smith says he doesn't believe the car thief is related to the family. It is unclear if the man knew Evan was inside.

BLOOMER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in western Michigan say a 19-month-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after being submerged for 10 minutes in water in a hole on his family's property. The Montcalm County Sheriff's Department says the 3-foot-deep hole was dug for the family's trampoline. The property is in Bloomer Township near Carson City, about 45 miles north-northeast of Grand Rapids. WOOD-TV says Jaxon Crouse wandered away and was found floating face down in the water about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

GOSHEN -- The mother of the toddler who was killed Monday after a reported hit-and-run accident was arrested Wednesday after a thorough police investigation. Police initially arrested the child's mother on charges of false informing and check deception Wednesday. Mandie Turner-Berger, 22, was booked into the Elkhart County jail. According to a release from the Goshen Police Department, an investigation revealed that certain events included in Turner-Berger's story could not be verified.

SOUTH BEND -- South Bend Police dispatchers say a toddler was found wandering around the area of the Potawatomi Zoo Sunday morning. Dispatchers say the child was found around 8:00 a.m. Sunday. The child has been reunited with parents. It is unclear at this time how the child got there alone.

The family of a South Bend toddler is calling for justice, after the little girl died a month after nearly drowning at her former foster family's home. 23-month old Skyler Bullocks died early Saturday morning just after 7 a.m. after suffering severe brain damage when she fell into an in-ground pool at her former foster grandmother's home daycare in Osceola. Skyler's mother, Johnanna Bullocks, talked with WSBT Channel 22 News on Wednesday. Skyler would have turned 2 in a few weeks.

SOUTH BEND - A South Bend toddler died a month-and-a-half after a tragic accident at an Osceola daycare. On August 2, 23-month-old Skyler Bullocks fell into a swimming pool while in the care of Mary Schrock, the owner of the home daycare. A 4-year-old, who was jumping on a trampoline, saw Skylar in the pool and tried to pull her out but couldn't. An adult quickly pulled the toddler out of the pool and started administering CPR. Initially, Skyler was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka but was then airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children.

BEIJING (AP) — State media report a toddler is in critical condition in east China after surviving a 10-story fall by being caught by a passing woman. Media reports say the 2-year-old girl Niu Niu was left unattended Saturday in the family's 10th floor apartment outside Hangzhou city when her grandmother went to run an errand. The reports say passer-by Wu Juping saw the toddler hanging from the window and then ran over when she saw Niu Niu fall. Sunday's reports say 31-year-old Wu broke her arm catching the child, who is hospitalized with internal bleeding and other injuries.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California woman has pleaded not guilty to murder and assault charges stemming from the death of a 2-year-old girl who died from complications after eating chili powder. Prosecutor Kathleen DiDonato said 21-year-old Amanda Sorensen entered her plea Thursday in a Victorville courtroom. Sorensen is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to return to court Jan. 17. Authorities said the girl, identified in court documents as Joileen G., was found at an Apple Valley home over the weekend suffering from a seizure after ingesting the kitchen spice.

Sturgis police say Child Protective Services called them to the 1000 block of Cato Lane after finding two crack pipes in the home - which led to the discovery of drugs. A 3-year-old was taken into protective custody. This happened Wednesday around 10:40 a.m. The officers seized the crack pipes, which were found on an end table and in the bedroom, and obtained a search warrant for the home. They say they found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and packaging material. A man and woman, both 23, face charges for possession of meth, maintaining a drug house, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police have arrested an Alabama man after a toddler believed to be his son was found dead in a suburban Indianapolis apartment. Noblesville police say the 30-year-old man from Robertsdale, Ala., was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on a murder charge Wednesday evening. Investigators say the 2-year-old boy sustained what appears to be a stab wound to the head. Lt. Bruce Barnes says police were called to the scene for a reported stabbing around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

NAPPANEE - Police say a Milford toddler and her father are in serious condition after their buggy was struck by a car Friday night. This happened just before 6:30 p.m. at 5414 West, County Road 1350 North. That's near Nappanee. Police say Arlen R. Lehman, 51, of Milford was pulling out of a private driveway in a buggy. He tried to make his horse stop, but it suddenly trotted out into the road and was hit by a car driven by Jodi R. Kauffman, 23, of Etna Green. Kauffman told police she was approaching the driveway when she saw a horse enter the road from behind a row of trees.

DUNLAP - Two people are behind bars after police busted a meth lab in Elkhart County Sunday night. Around 9:30 p.m., police got a tip about a wanted suspect and a meth making operation at 23995 Sunnyside Avenue in the Dunlap area between Elkhart and Goshen. Authorities say they found 24-year-old Christopher Sawyer and 21-year-old Lauren Semmerling manufacturing methamphetamine in the home. Both were hauled to the Elkhart County Jail on felony charges of manufacturing meth, possession of hypodermic needles, neglect of a dependent and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and precursors to manufacture meth.

WARSAW - Payton Brettell was an adventurous little boy who graduated to a "big boy bed" before his first birthday because his parents said he was "a climber. " So at first, David and Nova Brettell believed his babysitter when she told them he climbed out of his crib during nap time and accidentally strangled himself in a nearby car seat inside her Warsaw home.  Payton's mom told WSBT she's known Shell 25 years and trusted her with her son's life. In an interview with WSBT the day after their son died, David and Nova Brettell also said they thought it was an accident and they believed Shell's story.  But court documents say she changed her story two days after he died.

WARSAW - Warsaw police have arrested a daycare owner for the death of an 18-month-old boy nearly two months ago. On August 6, police were called to a home in the 900 block of S. Union St. 18-month-old Peyton Brettell was unresponsive and taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later. Police say the South Union St. home is owned by Dana and Ballard Shell. 43-year-old Dana ran a child care business there and was unlicensed by the state of Indiana at the time of the incident.

SOUTH BEND - A South Bend mother is outraged after learning there will be no charges filed in her daughter's death. 23-month-old Skyler Bullocks died last month from injuries she received after falling into a swimming pool at her former foster grandmother's house in Osceola. This week, the St. Joseph County prosecutor's office said while what happened to Skyler may have been negligent, they could not prove it was a criminal act. Johnanna Bullocks is very angry that the prosecutor has decided to not file any charges in the death of her daughter, and she's even more upset about how she found out about that decision...by hearing about it on the Wednesday evening news.
