Well over a hundred people from Indiana were scrambled to the East Coast in the emergency response. A group from Warsaw just got back from helping the Jersey Shore resident who were devastated by the storm in the Atlantic City area. All four men said that the emotional damage they saw in the faces of victims was worse than the physical damage all around them. Snapshots captured in seconds... Memories that'll last forever. "There were houses completely off of their foundation," Multi-Township EMS Critical Care Paramedic Supervisor Gary Hicks said.

The following release was issued Thursday morning: On Wednesday, October 31st, at approximately 3:16 a.m., Warsaw Police were called to the Super 8 Motel after three passengers in a cab failed to pay for their taxi ride. Upon arrival, the desk clerk directed officers to room 224 where officers knocked on the door and were met by a female. The occupants of the room matched the description given by the cab driver and they acknowledged that they had just arrived in a cab. In the room, officers observed a large container of salt, coffee filters, and bottles of drain cleaner.

WARSAW - Severe smoke inhalation and a few burns on his forehead. A 4-year-old is slowly recovering from a house fire in Warsaw. The home burst into flames shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday. A mother and son were inside when the fire started to engulf the house in the 700 block of E. Clark St., just east of the downtown area. Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Battalion Chief Rob Barker Wednesday evening said the cause of a devastating house fire in Warsaw this morning has now been narrowed down to the kitchen.

WARSAW - Payton Brettell was an adventurous little boy who graduated to a "big boy bed" before his first birthday because his parents said he was "a climber. " So at first, David and Nova Brettell believed his babysitter when she told them he climbed out of his crib during nap time and accidentally strangled himself in a nearby car seat inside her Warsaw home. Payton's mom told WSBT she's known Shell 25 years and trusted her with her son's life. In an interview with WSBT the day after their son died, David and Nova Brettell also said they thought it was an accident and they believed Shell's story. But court documents say she changed her story two days after he died.

WARSAW - Warsaw police have arrested a daycare owner for the death of an 18-month-old boy nearly two months ago. On August 6, police were called to a home in the 900 block of S. Union St. 18-month-old Peyton Brettell was unresponsive and taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later. Police say the South Union St. home is owned by Dana and Ballard Shell. 43-year-old Dana ran a child care business there and was unlicensed by the state of Indiana at the time of the incident.

Marian's girls soccer team is celebrating its first state title. The Knights beat Providence 2-0 behind two first-half goals, from DJ Veldman and Shannon Hendricks. It was a rematch of last year's Class A title game, which Providence won in penalty kicks. South Bend St. Joseph's girls soccer team lost 3-1 to Evansville Memorial. After falling behind 2-0 at the half, Madison Turner scored for the Indians to cut the deficit to 2-1. But Memorial scored again to put the game away.

A Warsaw pastor is accused of having sex with a handicapped teenager. His family says he didn't do it, but court documents say otherwise. Robert Haywood, 77, is now facing three felony charges for alleged sexual encounters he had with a 14-year-old girl. According to court documents, the victim has cerebral palsy. Investigators say the first incident happened in the basement at Harvest Time Ministries church in Pierceton - when Haywood allegedly kissed then touched the girl inappropriately. According to court documents, the second incident - sexual intercourse - happened in the woods behind the victim's Warsaw home June 20, in Haywood's truck.

WARSAW - A staff member at Warsaw High School has been arrested on sexual charges. City police say they investigated a complaint of someone who was inappropriately recording teenage girls at school. Police say that someone was 35-year-old Daniel Zambrano of Warsaw. Last week, two 16-year-old girls and a 17-year-old girl told school staff they were being photographed and videotaped from a cell phone camera under a desk during classes. As a result, Zambrano has been charged with 3 counts of voyeurism, all class A misdemeanor charges.

AKRON - Police say a Warsaw man was killed Thursday afternoon in Fulton County when a SUV pulled into the path of his motorcycle. This happened around 5, say police, on State Road 19 at Division Road. That's just north of Akron in Fulton County. “The preliminary investigation by Trooper Josh Tarrh revealed that Arissa Grossman, 52, Akron, IN, was driving a 2009 Dodge Journey eastbound on Division Road,” according to a news release issued by Indiana State Police. “Grossman stopped for a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 19 and then proceeded to turn northbound, onto State Road 19. While attempting to turn, Grossman allegedly pulled into the path of a southbound 2013 Harley Davidson Road Glide Motorcycle.

WARSAW - Warsaw police have arrested the man accused of deliberately driving his car into a horse and Amish wagon this past weekend. The horse was killed in the hit-and-run near Walmart on Sheldon Street just north of U.S. 30 on the city's north side. It happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday. The suspect is 24-year-old Francisco Gonzalez of Warsaw. Police say Gonzalez asked to meet with his attorney before giving investigators a statement. While the horse died instantly, five Amish boys were thrown from the wagon but only suffered minor injuries.
