Matt is no stranger to Michiana -- growing up in Warsaw, which is in Kosciusko county.  He joined the WSBT weather team in June of 2012, but has been a weather fanatic since he was a little kid. He says, “I decided to make my passion my career!” Matt is a Meteorologist with a Bachelors Degree in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University.  He comes to us from WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois.  While at WSIL, he was a staff meteorologist and multi-platform journalist.  During college, he interned here at WSBT as well as WLFI-TV in West Lafayette.  Matt also interned for the National Weather Service.

Ted Land joined the WSBT news team in August, 2012. He came to Michiana from Alaska where he worked as a reporter at KTUU, an NBC station owned by Schurz Communications Inc., the parent company of WSBT. During his four years in America's “Last Frontier,” Land covered everything from the political aspirations of former governor Sarah Palin to the eruption of a volcano that coated Anchorage in ash. His final assignment was to fly to base camp on Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park and show viewers the hundreds of climbers who attempt North America's highest peak each spring and summer.

Not many people can say they have a job they truly look forward to doing every day. Kelli considers herself one of the lucky few who loves what she does. A Central Illinois native, Kelli began her journalism career at WICD-TV in Champaign, Ill. where, during  college , she worked her way up from an intern to a photographer and eventually weekend reporter.  Kelli moved to South Bend to report on WSBT First Thing in the Morning in 2006. After three years working various shifts at WSBT, she left the world of news only to discover she missed it. Kelli was thrilled to return to WSBT in 2011.

Chad Damp worked for years behind the scenes as an award-winning photojournalist. Now he's moved in front of the camera, reporting the news and sports. As a child, Chad moved around a lot while his father served in the Air Force. His love for television was developed at the Elkhart Career Center and his first job in TV was at Fox 28 in Elkhart. He worked for the NBC/ABC station in Fort Myers, Florida, before joining WSBT in 2005. A huge Colts, Cubs and Notre Dame fan, Chad likes to read and watch movies in his free time.

On Monday, WSBT told you about a South Bend man who found his house "for rent" on Craigslist. That was a problem because he had not listed his house on Craigslist ... a scammer did. Since then WSBT has received e-mails and phone calls for many dealing with similar scams around Michiana. Tuesday, WSBT decided to dig deeper for information about the scammers and help you combat these crimes. Renter beware! Con artists are everywhere. "I knew immediately it was a complete scam," said Julie Williams, an almost victim of a Craigslist crime who contacted WSBT.

SOUTH BEND - High-force trauma, broken vertebrae, decapitation -- Police are looking for a man now charged with brutally beating three puppies to death. Joseph Perry, 38, is being charged with two counts of mutilating an animal. A warrant has been issued for his arrest but police have not been able to find him yet. The two charges against Perry are Class D Felonies -- a conviction could carry a penalty of six months to three years in prison. WSBT was the first to tell you about this case last month.

                                        WSBT sports director Pete Byrne sat down with Brian Kelly for an exclusive interview before the Irish football team left for Ireland. Kelly discusses the  season opener against Navy with Pete, and looks ahead to his third season at Notre Dame.                                           Kelly shares the pluses and minuses of being the head coach at Notre Dame, and how close he thinks his team is to becoming a championship-caliber team.

Friends and family of a South Bend native shot to death on a Kentucky Army base are searching for answers after she was found dead inside the home she shared with her husband. It appears to be an act of domestic violence, but military police have been tight-lipped about their investigation. Photos of a vibrant, spontaneous young woman are all Jessica Roberts Rawls' friends and family have. “She's a very, very intelligent, outgoing individual,” said Rawls' former step brother, Rain Williams.

There was new information Monday night about a serious crash that sent two students from Dowagiac Union High School to the hospital over the weekend - One of the teens has been upgraded from serious to fair condition. Cass County Police say they are still investigating what happened. The teens were on their way to their high school prom. Shawn Haley, 17, was upgraded to fair condition at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, according to a nursing supervisor WSBT spoke to Monday.

A South Bend man is facing felony charges, accused of running a prostitution ring. And the father of a Mishawaka teenager who was allegedly part of the ring is frustrated, sad and angry. Police arrested Xavier McCaster, 28, last month and a deputy prosecutor charged him with three felony charges for allegedly promoting prostitution.  According to court documents, he gave at least three women - including that 18-year-old - food and a place to stay.  In return, they collected money for him as prostitutes.
